Continued success saw this established large family-owned commercial bakery and retail business needing to gear-up their premises to continue its expansion.

 

The properties that provide the base for production operations comprise a detached retail unit offering production kitchens, stores and a despatch point, with adjacent buildings offering head office, further production, walk-in cold stores and blast freezers. The retail and production unit occupies a former car wash building of steel frame construction with elevation of cavity brick work and sheet cladding. The improvements have drastically transformed the building with new external cladding, glazed frontage and pitched sheet clad roof. The adjacent buildings been extended and thermally clad before being rendered to tie new with old.

 

The transformed premises provide customer facing areas with servery and till points, and fully-equipped catering kitchens, plus staff changing facilities. There are also office suites with kitchens, tea stations, and WC facilities. The internal finishes include plastered, painted and sanitary grade wall finishes, plastered and suspended ceilings, and floor finishes of anti-slip linoleum and ceramic tile as appropriate. There is a drive in loading bay and motorised shutter doors, and a yard has a secure electric sliding gate.

Gathering costs and specifications from the client was time consuming and any gaps in the information put greater emphasis on the very detailed survey of the complete development that was required.
Careful allocation of the plant and machinery allowances into the pools was imperative.
