What does Ray say?

This blog, which will cover a huge range of technical and practical issues relating to Capital Allowances, is written by Ray Chidell MA (Cantab), CTA (Fellow).

Ray has worked in the tax world since 1986. He was initially on the other side of the fence, having qualified as a “fully trained” tax inspector. He soon moved into the accountancy profession, however, working in senior roles for two of the “top 20” accountancy firms, including six years as a tax partner on the south coast.

Ray has always enjoyed writing (which hopefully bodes well for this blog!) and for eight years wrote the top level Capital Allowances commentary for CCH. He then launched his own specialist tax publishing business, Claritax Books. Alongside Jake Iles, Ray is author of two fully technical works, Capital Allowances and the A-Z of Plant and Machinery (suitable for accountants and for holding open heavy doors) and of a much lighter introductory guide, Capital Allowances for Commercial Property (aimed at business owners, and as a starter guide for accountants who are new to this field).

Ray has worked with Jake since 2007 and became a technical director with Six Forward in 2016.
